UPDATE: Cause Of Apartment Fire Confirmed

Leamington Fire Service have confirmed the cause of an apartment fire that has displaced about 100 people.

On Twitter they posted that unattended cooking on the third floor was what started the blaze at Plumbrook Manor Apartments, on Saturday around 6pm.

The Leamington and Kingsville fire departments were called to the scene where two people were rescued from the building. A firefighter suffered unknown injuries while trying to put out the flames and three pets died in the fire.

Plumbrook Dr. between Oak St. E and Southbridge St. was closed while fire officials conducted an investigation.

The damage is estimated at $435,000 and it is unknown when the displaced residents will be able to return to their apartment units.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
