Fate of Several School Crossing Undecided

A decision on six pedestrian crossing across Chatham-Kent has been postponed.

Municipal council has decided to revisit the recommendation on installing pedestrian crossing with signs and lights in Blenheim, Chatham, Tilbury, Wallaceburg, and Wheatley at their next meeting, which will take place August 22, 2016.

As for the two school crossings in Ridgetown, two in Chatham and one in Wallaceburg council had stated that the recommendations were not needed in the report because a decision had already been made to have them removed. The locations were not busy enough and didn't warrant new crossings.

In Dresden, the recommendation to keep a crossing guard at the North St. crossing could not move forward as the fate of Dresden Area Central School remains unclear.

The school has been tagged for possible closure and if the school closes that would reduce the amount of pedestrian traffic in the area.
