Cyclist Arrested After Sexual Assault

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 65-year-old man in connection with a sexual assault investigation in Chatham.

Police say a man on a bicycle stopped to talk to a woman who was riding an electric scooter in the area of St. Clair St. and Thames St. in Chatham just before noon on Tuesday.

While they were talking, the man allegedly touched the woman in a sexual manner, prompting the woman to flee the area and call police once she got home.

Officers were able to identify a suspect and arrested him on Thursday.

He has since been released from custody with conditions and a future court date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
