Wind Project Gets Final Approval

The North Kent Wind Farm has passed the final hurdle.

A spokesperson for Pattern Energy confirms the province has granted a renewable energy approval (REA) for the project.

Construction on the 36 turbines will begin sometime in the spring of 2017. The 100-megawatt project previously agreed to a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).

Approximately 200 jobs will be created during the construction, plus another 10 permanent jobs after the project is completed.

The project is a joint venture between Pattern Energy and Samsung Renewable Energy. For more details on North Kent Wind, click here.
