Firefighters responded to the scene around 7:55am Tuesday to find a fire in the upper-level of the home. Chatham-Kent Assistant Fire Chief Chris Case says they believe the blaze began in a bedroom.

"The crews applied a defensive tactic of putting a water jet through the window to knock it down. They then de-vented and are currently cutting away hot spots and looking for fire-spread," says Case.

Multiple neighbours have told BlackburnNews.com there is possible drug activity in the home. The front window had allegedly been smashed earlier in the week.

Officials say the fire is not being considered suspicious at this time. They estimate damages to be around $50,000.
