Passerby Spots Talbot Trail Blaze (GALLERY)

The damages are estimated at $500,000 after a fire broke out at a home on Talbot Trail (Hwy. 3) just east of Merlin.

Firefighters were called to the scene at around 11:50pm Tuesday after a passerby noticed a large blaze at the rear of the home.

Fire officials say crews from stations in Raleigh South and Merlin both responded and were able to quickly bring the situation under control.

Firefighters then spent the next four hours cutting away the structure to expose hot spots and ensure the fire was put out completely.

The Fire Marshal's Office is working with Chatham-Kent fire investigators to determine what caused the blaze.
