Distracted Driver Nearly Hits Police Motorcycle

A Kitchener man is facing a number of charges after a police officer was almost sideswiped while driving a motorcycle.

Chatham-Kent OPP say the officer was on a marked police motorbike at the time and was trying to pull over a vehicle that was seen committing an undisclosed traffic violation on Mill St. in Tilbury on Thursday.

Police say the vehicle started to change lanes while the officer was beside it, so the officer had to take evasive action to avoid being hit.

Investigators say the driver was also seen holding a phone to his ear before eventually being pulled over.

A 42-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with careless driving and distracted driving.
