Masse Calls For Evaluation Of Bridge Authority

MP for Windsor-West Brian Masse is calling for a full evaluation of the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority.

He fears the authority has lost focus and urgency in building the new Gordie Howe International Bridge.

"This affects quite clearly business, or personal situations on the border and investment for this community. And now for the unilateral decision that there will be no deadlines, is unacceptable," says Masse.

In July the interim chair of the WDBA Dwight Duncan said they have delayed issuing the RFP because there are still outstanding properties to purchase on the US side.

There are also reports of Duncan meeting with the owners of the Ambassador Bridge to discuss the purchase of the border crossing.

"If we're looking at purchasing and not building that's a significant loss for this community or if it becomes a distraction, again it appears to be buying out something that is questionable at this point in time," says Masse.

Masse sent a letter to the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities to get answers on the project moving forward. For a copy of the letter and a full list of his concerns click here.
