Bothwell Goes Retro With 25th Annual Car Show (GALLERY)

Classic cars, muscle cars and hot rods were out in force for the 25th annual Bothwell car show this weekend.

The Bothwell '16 auto show, which was hosted by Old Autos Newspaper, Bothwell Optimist and local service clubs, drew a massive crowd to Victoria Park on Saturday. The event featured an auto flea market with over 250 vendors, live music, and a giant parade of the vintage vehicles.

Murray McEwan, the former owner of Old Autos Newspaper, says there was a tremendous turnout at the show on Saturday with an estimated 1,500 classic cars and other vintage vehicles. There was also around 8,000 people in attendance throughout the day.

"This is our 25th attempt at the show -- I think that drew extra cars," he says. "The weather just pulled in perfect for the day, and I would say we had our biggest attendance for cars and people."

The event's annual 50/50 draw this year was for $30,000, with $60,000 worth of tickets being sold by local firefighters. Last year the draw worked out to $22,000 each way.
