Crash And Dash Driver Charged

A 34-year-old man is charged with fleeing the scene of a crash in Chatham that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the crash took place back on May 21, 2016 at the intersection of St. Clair St. and McNaughton Ave.

At that time, the driver of a pickup truck allegedly turned in front of a motorcycle, causing the biker to lose control and hit two other vehicles.

Police say the driver of the pickup truck that caused the crash stopped momentarily, but then fled the scene before police arrived.

Through their investigation, officers were able to identify the truck and the driver responsible and pulled him over yesterday.

A 34-year-old Chatham man is now charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision, careless driving, driving with an expired validation, and two counts of driving with no insurance.
