Investigation Into Crash On Hwy. 40 Continues

Police are looking for the public's assistance in an ongoing investigation regarding a crash on Hwy. 40 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on August 19 around 10:30am a Ford mini van and Chatham-Kent EMS ambulance  were involved in a head-on collision on Hwy. 40 near Green Valley Line.

The driver of the minivan has been identified as 60-year-old Geoffrey Brereton of Chatham. He was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

The OPP released information late Friday afternoon that stated Brereton had succumbed to his injuries, however, police officials have since issued a news release saying that information was incorrect.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators are helping with the investigation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
