A Weather Network storm chaser says there's "no way" anyone could've predicted the tornado activity that touched down in the Windsor area.
"To be quite honest, this looked like a rainshower," says Meteorologist Mark Robinson. "If you're looking at radar and you're seeing a rainshower, it's not going to show up as a potential tornado."
Robinson also commends Environment Canada for monitoring Wednesday's huge storm as best they could. They keep track of the atmosphere to see if the parameters are right for severe weather.
But Robinson says this particular tornado was extremely hard to predict. Robinson says the weather system, which started on the other side of the Detroit River, grew and worsened very quickly.
"This thing formed up within minutes, and it was shocking to me to see this. I was looking at it at one point thinking 'Am I actually seeing what I think I'm seeing?'" Robinson says.
A total of four people suffered minor injuries during the tornado. Environment Canada officials are working to classify just how serious the storm was.
