House Fire Following Power Outage

Chatham-Kent police say an unattended stove is to blame for a house fire in Tilbury.

Emergency crews responded to a Tilbury home Sunday to find a house on fire.

Officials say the blaze stemmed from a power outage, and "involved [the home's] stove." The fire caused "moderate" smoke damage to the house.

Police are reminding the public to turn off any active appliances during a power outage. The device can continue operating when electricity is restored.
