Man Arrested After Fleeing From Police

Police have arrested a 28-year-old Toronto man following a high speed chase in Chatham.

Investigators say the man fled from police in his vehicle when they tried to pull him over in the area of Harvey St. and Lacroix St. at around 3am Monday morning.

He's accused of running two stop signs and a red light while police were chasing him.

At one point, police say they had to call off the chase and follow him from a distance because the suspect was driving too fast for them to safely pursue him.

Officers were able to stop him when he slowed down as he was merging onto the Hwy. 401. Once the vehicle was stopped, police searched the man and found marijuana on him.

A 28-year-old Toronto man is now charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fleeing from police, and drug possession. He has been released with conditions and a future court date.
