Provincial Funding Supports Manufacturing Rebirth: Dajcor

A Chatham business says the province is helping the manufacturing sector in southwestern Ontario get back on its feet.

The Ontario government is cutting Dajcor Aluminum Inc a $1-million cheque for new state of the art equipment, from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.

President and Owner Mike Kilby says the funding will lead to expanded business opportunities and allow the factory to create jobs.

"I think the province can see that there's been a spark reignited in the manufacturing sector in southwestern Ontario," says Kilby.

"Certainly this contribution to our capital program is very timely."

Kilby says the investment is welcome in a time when Canadian manufacturers can't take another blow.

"I think we're all aware with the energy market where it is, and [beacuse of that] manufacturing is really looked to in Ontario as part of the growth prospects," he says, adding leveraging private-sector investment in manufacturing ultimately grows the economy.

"Targetting manufacturing businesses like ours is investment in the local community, as well as the province and country as a whole."
