A section of the Kent Bridge will be closed until further notice, as crews clean up the aftermath of a fuel spill.
Municipal officials say a transport truck was travelling over the Thames River last night when it had a drive shaft failure. The incident punctured the fuel tank, spilling several hundred litres of diesel fuel. The truck apparently continued onto Longwoods Rd. for approximately 50m.
The fuel has damaged asphalt on the road. All lanes of the bridge are closed so crews can remove asphalt and also inspect the bridge deck.
The asphalt removal is scheduled to begin next week. Officials say the bridge will remain closed for the time being.
