Maroons Take Strathroy 4-1

Cale Markham scored two goals, including an insurance goal in the third period, as the Chatham Maroons defeated the Strathroy Rockets 4-1 Sunday night at Memorial Arena.

It was the Maroons' eighth straight victory, yet only the third win during that streak in which Chatham won by more than one goal.

Strathroy did manage to score first in the contest, on an unassisted goal by Cody Schneider in the third minute of the first period.  That would be all the offense the Rockets would muster in the game.  Chatham would tie the game up at 12:32 on a score from Austin Thompson.  Markham's first goal would come over two minutes after that for a 2-1 Maroons lead after 20 minutes of play.

Kevin Gursoy would connect on the power play in the second period.  He would also get an assist on Markham's second goal of the game in the third.  Braden Henderson picked up two assists for Chatham.

Lucas Patton was the winner in goal for the Maroons, facing 40 shots and turning away all except one.

The Maroons hit the road Thursday night for a game with the Leamington Flyers.  Puck drop is 7:10.
