Unifor Employees Ratify FCA Deal

Employees of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have ratified their new contract with the automaker.

Unifor has reported that 70.1% of workers who have voted on the deal accepted the new four-year contract .  The deal affects FCA employees in Windsor, Brampton and Toronto.

Under the terms of the agreement, workers will receive a 4% raise throughout the agreement, plus about $12,000 in signing and lump sum bonuses.  New hires will also be entitled to bonuses and pay raises each year under a ten-year pay grid.  The last agreement had new hires making their starting wage for the first three years of employment.

Unifor had previously worked out a new deal with General Motors, and will now turn its attention to reaching an agreement with the Ford Motor Company.  The deadline for the union to reach a deal with Ford is October 31.

About 6,000 of the 10,000 Chrysler hourly workers, affected by the new agreement, work at the Windsor Assembly Plant, which runs on three full shifts.
