UPDATE: Hwy. 401 Reopened After Transport Truck Fire In Dutton

A transport truck fire forced OPP to close a section of Hwy. 401 in the Dutton-area Tuesday afternoon.

The truck burst into flames on the busy stretch of highway around 3pm. Thick black smoke from the fire quickly began causing visibility issues. As a result, the westbound lanes at Iona Rd. and the eastbound lanes at Currie Rd. were closed.

OPP reopened the eastbound lanes of the highway roughly an hour later. The westbound lanes remained closed until around 7:15pm.

The driver of the transport truck has been located but police did not say whether he suffered any injuries.
