Alleged Drunk Driver Hides Near Crash Site

A 24-year-old Wheatley man is facing charges after police say he crashed a truck while he was allegedly impaired and tried to flee the scene on foot.

Essex County OPP say they got a call about a collision at the intersection of North Talbot Rd. and Cameron Side Rd. in Kingsville Saturday night.

When officers arrived, they saw a black Dodge pickup truck had run through a stop sign and into a guardrail.

A witness told police the driver of the truck fled on foot after the collision. Officers say they found him a short time later hiding in the treeline near the scene.

A 24-year-old man is now charged with impaired driving.
