Cross Country Hiring 100 New Workers

A Blenheim manufacturer is doubling its workforce, hoping to increase its export capacity by 70%.

Cross Country Trailers has received a $550,000 grant from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.

CEO Dave Dick says they'll use the money to hire 100 new employees.

"Right now we're looking for fabrication welders mainly, also assemblers and some general labourers as well," says Dick.

He adds they've been fine-tuning their funding application for the last three-to-four years. The trailer manufacturer has already started hiring, with the other money going towards equipment.

"The facility was already 120,000 sq ft We weren't utilizing the entire space, so now we're making the unused portion production-ready," says Dick.

The CEO adds the company will be holding a job fair November 22 from 1pm to 7pm.
