UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck And Killed On Hwy. 401

Police have reopened a section of Hwy. 401 in Tecumseh following a hit-and-run collision that killed a pedestrian.

The Ontario Provincial Police say emergency crews responded on Wednesday just before 7pm, after the pedestrian was stuck near Manning Rd., in the westbound lanes.

The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital, but succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the pedestrian is not being released until next of kin has been notified.

Police say the vehicle involved in the collision did not stop at the scene, and has yet to be identified.

The westbound lanes on Hwy. 401 were closed at Puce Rd. for several hours.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
