Hwy. 401 Clear After Truck Fire

Essex County OPP say westbound Hwy. 401 is fully open again after a tractor trailer caught fire between Tilbury and Comber early Monday morning.

Police say a Volvo tractor trailer that was carrying a load of paper products was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters and other emergency crews arrived at around 5am.

The driver was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene and was taken to hospital, but he didn't suffer any burns.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
