Kingston Freezes Spitfires 3-2 in OT

Jason Robertson scored the game-winner at the 3:25 mark in overtime as the Kingston Frontenacs beat the Windsor Spitfires 3-2 Sunday afternoon at the Rogers K-Rock Centre.

Despite the overtime loss, the Spitfires remain deadlocked for the top spot in the OHL West Division with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at 35 points apiece.  The hounds beat the Oshawa Generals Sunday.

The scoring in this game did not begin until late in the first period, when the Frontanacs' Linus Nyman connected for his 14th goal of the season.  The second period's tempo would be controlled by Windsor as they scored two goals.  The first was from Connor Corcoran at 6:41 of the frame.  Hayden McCool scored the go-ahead goal 40 seconds later to make it a 2-1 Spitfires lead before the second intermission.

Justin Pringle's first goal of the season turned out to be the equalizer for Kingston at 3:37 in the third period.  The score remained tied through regulation and Robertson's overtime winner was his tenth of the season.

Michael DiPietro stopped 24 Kingston shots out of 27 in the losing effort.  The Spitfires continue their long road trip Wednesday night in Sault Ste. Marie in a key divisional matchup.  The Frontenacs host the Ottawa 67s Wednesday.
