Ratification Vote For Woodbridge Foam Contract

Strike action is on hold at Woodbridge Foam in Blenheim.

Unionized workers from the plant are at the Kent-Belgian-Dutch-Canadian Club in Chatham today, voting on a tentative contract.

The vote itself starts at 10am.

Plant Chairperson Brian Wright says it's important for members to show up so that they get accurate information about the deal.

"The more members that show up, the more everybody is informed up front," says Wright. "You hear first-hand information, you're not hearing the rumours that fly around during negotiations – you're getting actual factual information when you show up to the meeting."

Wright says misinformation can spread quickly during negotiations and the best way to clear a lot of that up, is for members to speak to their union representatives in person.

"What we told the membership before we went into negotiations is that unless you hear it from us, it's quite likely just a rumour," says Wright.

The first deal was shot down by 64% of the union members on November 27.
