Mother Charged After Abducted Girl Found

A young girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found.

Niagara Regional police say Layla Sabry was found in Hamilton early Monday morning. Her mother, Allana Haist, was arrested and charged with abduction in contravention of a custody order.

She was to appear in a St. Catherines court Monday.

An Amber Alert was issued the night of December 2. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Haist on December 6.

Both Layla and her mother were found in good health. After Haist's arrest, police returned Layla to the care of her grandparents.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
