More Repairs Scheduled For The Parry Bridge

The Parry Bridge on Keil Dr. in Chatham will be closed for five days in the new year to repair the bridge's latching mechanism.

According to municipal officials, the latching mechanism that connects the two centre spans is wearing more than expected.

The wearing of the mechanism is also the root cause behind why there's vertical movement on the bridge.

As a result, the mechanism will need to be replaced in order to stabilize the bridge.

The replacement is slated to happen in January -- but at this point, it's not clear which days the bridge will be shut down.
