Singer George Michael Dead At 53

The BBC reports singer, songwriter George Michael has died.

The singer who rose to fame in the 1980s with hits like "Wake Me Up (Before You Go-Go) and "Careless Whisper" was found dead at his home in Goring, Oxfordshire in England at 1:42pm GMT.

The BBC quoting Michael's publicist says a cause of death has not been released, but police do not suspect foul play.

Michaels was born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in north London, June 25, 1963. His father was a Greek Cypriot restaurateur who immigrated to England in the 1950s. His mother was an English dancer.

In 1981, Michaels formed Wham! with Andrew Ridgeley. By 1987, he had embarked on a solo career which resulted in a number of hits on both sides of the Atlantic, including the controversial "I Want Your Sex."
