Horvat Replaces Verbeek For Maroons

The Chatham Maroons have a new head coach for the second time this season.

Former longtime St. Thomas Stars head coach Ron Horvat will replace Brian Verbeek behind the bench.

The Maroons fired Verbeek without any explanation shortly before the Christmas holiday break.

Horvat spent eight seasons as the head coach of the St. Thomas Stars and also served as a scout for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL from 2004-2007.

A spokesperson for the team told BlackburnNews.com Horvat will be unavailable for comment until Sunday, when he'll make his coaching debut in the Maroons' game against the London Nationals. Puck drop is set for 7pm.
