Taking A Closer Look

The Erie St. Clair LHIN is taking a closer look at the vision care system, in hopes of making it better for patients.

Director of Communications Shannon Sasseville says they are developing a vision care strategy, which involves a couple of different aspects.

First, they will conduct a survey -- something Sasseville says other LHIN facilities across the province have done as well.

"We really want to understand the patient experience," says Sasseville. "What we hear from people is once they get to their physician the quality of care is excellent but sometime people have trouble navigating the system."

The survey is open to people of all ages who have experienced vision problems, and is also anonymous.

The second part of their strategy is to include three patient advisors to the Vision Care Steering Committee. The volunteer positions are to give patients a voice by providing the patient perspective.
