Students Due Back To Class From Holidays

It's back to reality for most on Monday morning, now that the Christmas holidays are over for students.

But officials at St. Clair College's Thames Campus are confident their students are anxious to get back in the classroom.

Chair of Academic Studies Mark Benoit says that's because they have a strong number of mature students enrolled in their programs.

"Those folks are very focused about the opportunity they have to get their second career or retraining," he says. "So they're pretty eager to get back to their studies, knowing that their end goal is to get back out into the workforce."

He says, since students are already in the thick of it by second semester, the transition is probably harder after the summer.

"There we see adult students that are a little hesitant about coming back in and being with a group of students that might be from high school," says Benoit. "By second semester, they're pretty comfortable with their studies and ready to go."
