Several residents on Marsh Line say the pile driving and vibration from nearby wind turbines is disturbing their wells and contaminating their drinking water with black sludge.

Resident Kevin Jakubec accuses the Ministry of Environment of putting public health at risk and is disappointed with the lack of action. He says says no illness has been reported, but quickly adds it could take 20 to 25 years to surface.

Jakubec says he feels confident that testing by his own hydrogeologists will confirm next month that the water is contaminated with heavy metals.

A public meeting is being held January 11 at 7pm at Countryview Golf Club to discuss the issue. Resident attending will go over a public survey and formulate a complaints strategy.

Nicholls says the turbines shouldn't have been built in the area in the first place and the ministry should have done its homework properly.
