Maroons Down Stars 9-4

The Chatham Maroons scored a 9-4 victory over the St. Thomas Stars at Chatham Memorial Arena on Thursday.

Noah Bushnell and Cory Bussing both scored early in the first period to give Chatham the lead, but St. Thomas was able to scored once to make it 2-1 going into the second. The Stars retaliated in the second frame by scoring two goals and taking a 3-2 advantage.

The Maroons came back swinging in the third with Nolan VandenBoorn scoring twice, and Bryce Yetman, Bobby Harrison as well Kevin Gursoy each getting a goal of their own to put Chatham ahead 7-3, with just under five minutes left to play.

The Stars scored their fourth goal of the game, but Yetman scored his second of the night, along with Alec Mackenzie who scored one final unanswered goal to cap off Chatham's win.

Chatham goaltender Lucas Patton made 37 saves out of 41 shots on net.

The Maroons travel to Strathroy on Saturday to take on the Rockets at 7:30pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
