UPDATE: Hwy. 401 Reopened After Crash Near Chatham

Police have reopened the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 after a single-vehicle crash west of Chatham.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Friday around 3pm, a commercial motor vehicle sustained a tire blowout at Merlin Rd., which caused it to crash into the guardrail. The vehicle then came to a rest in a roadside ditch.

The westbound lanes were closed at Bloomfield Rd. for around 90 minutes while a tow truck cleared the scene.

No injuries have been reported and no charges have been laid.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
