Maroons Blank Flyers 4-0

The Chatham Maroons score a 4-0 shutout victory over the Leamington Flyers on Junior B hockey on Thursday.

After a scoreless first period, Alec Mackenzie scored four minutes into the second, followed by Teddy McGeen who scored after 18:59 to give the Maroons a 2-0 lead.

The Maroons continued to dominate the Flyers in the third with Bobby Harrison scoring early in the frame to make it 3-0. Kevin Gursoy scored another unanswered goal in the final four minutes to cap off Chatham's win.

Maroons goaltender Brendan Johnston made 27 saves in the game for his first shutout of the season.

The Maroons are back on the ice when they head to St. Thomas on Friday to take on the Stars at 7:30pm. And then on Saturday, the Flyers are in Sarnia to battle the Legionnaires at 7:10pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
