Structure Fire Causes Upwards Of $35K In Damages

A blaze at a vacant residence in Wallaceburg has sparked an investigation.

Chatham-Kent fire officials say on Saturday around 2:49pm, crews were called out to a structure fire on Nelson St.

No one was living in the single-storey residence.

Fire crews arrived on scene shortly after the fire was called in, preventing the flames from spreading to houses in the surrounding area.

Damage is estimated somewhere between $35,000 and $40,000.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management has been notified as a cause remains undetermined.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Firefighters will be returning to the scene Sunday afternoon as part of their after fire reassurance campaign.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
