The Chatham Maroons are hitting the road Friday night for Game 2 of their opening-round playoff series against the St. Thomas Stars.
They have a 1-0 series lead after winning the first game at home Thursday night and they're looking for 19 more victories before the playoffs are through.
Maroons captain Steven Beenackers says that's part of their rallying cry this post-season -- the road to 20.
"It takes 20 wins to win the whole championship, so we've got our eye on the prize and it starts one game at a time," says Beenackers. "We've got one -- we're on our way."
After a physical, back-and-forth game at Memorial Arena, Beenackers also knows the intensity will only continue to rise as the series goes on. That's where his veteran leadership comes in -- he's in his fourth season with the Maroons and his last year of eligibility at the Jr. B level.
"Obviously the emotions of the game are flying high and over the course of the series, it just gets more and more emotional and the battles get tougher," says Beenackers. "Everybody just has to stay focused on the mission and keep to it."
