Trucker Charged After Rig Flips On Hwy. 401

A 34-year-old truck driver is charged with careless driving after his rig flipped on Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent.

Provincial police say it happened around 4:30am Thursday near Communication Rd. According to investigators, the westbound tractor trailer went out of control, flipped on its side, and skidded approximately 500 m before coming to rest in the median.

No injuries were reported.

Initially, the OPP said they would be closing the westbound lanes of the highway at 10am in order to allow a towing crew to remove a tractor trailer from the centre median. They later announced that the closure would not happen.
