The feud between a local water wells advocate and a Chatham-Kent councillor could soon come to an end.
Councillor Jeff Wesley previously threatened to take legal action against Water Wells First spokesperson Kevin Jakubec at the beginning of March -- shortly after the group had presented Wesley with a "shame award."
Wesley's lawyer, Michael Lerner, tells BlackburnNews.com they have papers in order, but they're giving Jakubec one more chance.
"We have drafted a statement of claim that is ready to be issued and served, however, I have instructions from Councillor Wesley to delay doing that in order to pursue an alternate course that has arisen," says Lerner. "It'll be up to Mr. Jakubec to decide whether or not he accepts my proposal."
Should Jakubec accept the proposal, Lerner says "it may well resolve the matter." However, if Jakubec does not accept, Lerner says he'll have to wait to see how Wesley wants to proceed.
"I expect those instructions [from Wesley] to forge ahead with the claim," says Lerner.
BlackburnNews.com has reached out to Jakubec for a comment but has not heard back.
