CK CAS Gets Credit For Decline In Child Abuse

Child abuse is down across Chatham-Kent.

A police report shows arrests dropped from 18 in 2015 to ten last year.

Charges were also down from 67 in 2015 to 51 last year.

Sexual and physical assault investigations went from 93 in 2015 to 64 last year.

The decline is about 38% and police officials credit better screening of abuse calls by the Children's Aid Society before officers get involved.
