Lightning Strike Express 109-96

Kyle Johnson shot for 25 points as the London Lightning beat the Windsor Express Sunday afternoon 109-96 at the WFCU Centre.

Johnson also shot seven-for-10 from the free throw line as London improved to a league-best 33-5 on the season so far.  The Express are a distant second to the Lightning in the NBL Central Division at 19-18.

The first half between these two Hwy 401 rivals was very tight, with the two teams tied at 49-all at halftime.  London, though, was able to pull away in the third quarter with timely shots and defence and they were able to expand on that lead through the fourth.

Joel Friesen put up 20 points of his own for the Lightning.  Royce White and Doug Herring, Jr. each chipped in 16 points while White led in rebounds with 12.

Warren Ward was the scoring leader for Windsor with 24 points.  Logan Stutz added 19 points and led the Express defensively with ten rebounds.  Shaquille Keith sank 12 points.

The Lightning host the Island Storm on Tuesday night at Budweiser Gardens, while Windsor welcomes the Storm Wednesday night.
