Cup Of Joe Finally Opening May 1

The opening of "Cup of Joe" in downtown Chatham has been delayed by a week.

Owner Joe Robertson says it should be open to the public May 1 because there are still some loose ends to address.

Robertson says he wants to make a good first impression.

"[I] would have liked to open by the weekend, but it's the restaurant business and little things gotta get done. I really don't want to open to the public until they walk in and get the full experience," says Robertson, adding that final staff training and food training continues.

Robertson says people can look for the patio to be open on Monday.

"Doing the finalizing stuff and you only get that one chance to get the good look and I'm going for that," he says.

Robertson says the buzz has been awesome.

"We just put up a facebook page and there's 100 hits already. I'm getting a lot of messages back and a lot of people are saying glad you're opening, we're looking forward to it, it's about time because they really did miss the place to come for espressos and stuff like that. So, a lot of good feedback," Robertson says.
