Wheatley Man Fined For Fishing Violations

A captain for a commercial fishing vessel has been fined for fishing violations that took place on Lake Erie.

Bobby Cabral, a Wheatley captain of a commercial fishing vessel called Teresa Maria, pleaded guilty to letting fish become unsuitable for eating and not declaring accurate weights on his catch reports.

A press release put out by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, states that between July 27, 2016 and August 10, 2016, Cabral let about 10,614lbs. of fish spoil by failing to keep them in enough ice.

The release also states that Cabral failed to declare accurate weights in his catch reports from August 11, 2016 - September 7, 2016.

Details on the investigation were presented in a Simcoe courtroom on April 13.

Cabral has been fined a total of $7,200.
