Construction Ramping Up On Hwy. 401

Hopefully you have your Aspirin handy.

That's because driving through Chatham-Kent on the Hwy. 401 over the next year will probably give you a headache.

The MTO says about 20 km of the 401 will be repaved.

The work includes a new gravel road base and concrete pavement on the eastbound lanes from Essex Rd. 42 to Drake Rd. and the westbound lanes from Merlin Rd. to Bloomfield Rd.

All of the work is expected to be complete by the spring of 2018.

Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction while the eastbound 401 lanes are reconstructed in the vicinity of the ON-Route service centres.

The MTO says the eastbound ramps at the 401 and Queen's Line interchange will be closed from May 5 until the end of November.
