Fire Causes $400K In Damage To Farmhouse

Fire officials are investigating after a blaze broke out at an older farmhouse south of Ridgetown.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services says fire crews were called to the home at 11973 Front Line at around 12:51am on Monday. Firefighters from the Ridgetown, Orford and Blenheim stations all attended the scene.

When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were reported at the rear of the home, and the fire was able to spread into the attic and walls, causing extensive damage.

All residents were able to get out of the house safely and no one was injured.

Damage is pegged at around $400,000 and the cause is currently under investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
