Longwoods Rd. between Zone Rd. 6 and Zone Rd. 7 will remain closed this weekend following a fatal collision.

The crash happened Friday afternoon on Longwoods Rd. near Parks Blueberries.

Chatham-Kent police say a Toyota Camry going westbound on Longwoods Rd., crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then collided with a Freightliner truck that was carrying a load of granular fertilizer.

The 58-year-old truck driver from Lambton County has since been released from hospital. However, the other driver, a 58-year-old Chatham man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are not releasing his name.

As a result of the collision, the truck's fuel tank leaked about 75L of diesel fuel on the road. It has been closed for resurfacing. However, Parks Blueberries will remain open as this is a busy weekend for the local business.
