Minor Earthquake Recorded Near Wheatley

If you think you felt the ground moving a bit near Wheatley over the weekend, you might be right.

The United States Geological Survey says a 2.2 magnitude earthquake hit at about 9:50pm Saturday.

It was reportedly centred 5km below the surface near the intersection of Wheatley Rd. and Essex Rd. 8.

An earthquake of that strength is considered "minor," but it still may have been felt slightly by some people.

Over one million earthquakes of a similar magnitude strike across the world every year.
