Strong Wind And High Wave Advisory

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority says strong winds and high waves on Lake Erie this week could cause shoreline erosion and some flooding in Chatham-Kent.

The wind is expected to gust up to 50 km/h at times and Marine Forecasts are predicting wave heights on Lake Erie to be around 1 m.

The conservation authority says Lake Erie water levels this week are up 10 cm from where they were at the beginning of May.

The LTVCA says people should take extra caution and avoid the shoreline should conditions get rough over the next few days. It says the combination of slippery banks and cold water can be dangerous.

This advisory will be in effect until Saturday.
