Spitfires Down Sea Dogs In Memorial Cup Opener

The Windsor Spitfires edged the Saint John Sea Dogs 3-2 in the opening game of the MasterCard Memorial Cup on Friday.

Jeremiah Addison scored 4:07 into the first period to give the Spitfires a 1-0 lead heading into the second. Jeremy Bracco added another goal for Windsor early in the second, but the Sea Dogs scored two back-to-back goals in the third to tie things up with just under 17 minutes left to play.

Aaron Luchuk scored the game winner for the Spitfires with 4:48 left before the buzzer.

The next game in the Memorial Cup at the WFCU Centre is on Saturday between the Seattle Thunderbirds and the Erie Otters.  The Spitfires return to the ice on Sunday to battle the Thunderbirds at 7pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
