Spitfires Trounce Thunderbirds 7-1

The Spitfires hammered the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-1 during Windsor's second Memorial Cup game on Sunday.

Graham Knott, Julius Nattinen, and Logan Brown all scored in the first 5:26 of the game to give the Spitfires a 3-0 lead. The Thunderbirds made it on the board with a goal part way through the second period, but Nattinen scored his second of the night to keep Windsor in the lead 4-1.

Knott scored his second of the night 33 seconds into the final period, followed by Jeremiah Addison and Jeremy Bracco who added another two goals to extend Windsor's lead for the win.

Windsor goaltender Michael DiPietro made 24 saves out of 25 shots on net.

The Spitfires will face off against the Erie Otters next on Wednesday. The puck drops at 7pm at the WFCU Centre.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
